Cotai is the combination of the names Coloane and Taipa. Coloane and Taipa used to be separate islands, and then the government filled in the channel between them (what they call "reclaimed land"), and it is called Cotai. The Strip is the main part of Cotai, although there are other things there. From a tourist standpoint, the Strip is Cotai.
There is a pedestrian bridge between Cotai and the Municipal Garden heading towards Taipa Old Village. From the bridge you can see the Galaxy Casino on one side.
To the other side of the pedestrian bridge, you can see the City of Dreams and Venetian Casinos
There is another pedestrian bridge at the north end of the Strip, that goes around the Rotunda do Istmo. From here you can get a good view of the Strip and the lake at the Municipal Garden of Taipa
The Macau University of Science and Technology is just off the Strip, near the City of Dreams Casino
